Chemical Peels
There are a wide variety of chemical peels, ranging from very mild to very invasive. A series of peels is the most common form of treatment. Peels are used to treat acne, some hyperpigmentation, fine lines and improve overall skin texture. Before your peel, avoid sun exposure and any topical retinoids.
Pregnant or breastfeeding women and patients who have taken Accutane within the last year should avoid chemical peels. After a peel, you should not do strenuous exercise as the skin may be irritated from perspiration.
Your home care should be very gentle, not using any vitamin C products, retinoids or scrubs for a week. It is very important not to force or help your skin to peel faster. To avoid rashes or scarring, it is best to keep your skin calm with a mild moisturizer. Most peels can be used on all skin types.
